This month we hosted a cutting class with visionary stylist Mark Bunkall. A long-time friend of the salon, Mark owns Anatome in Rino and approaches his craft as a lifelong learning endeavor. Originally from Salt Lake City, in Las Vegas he studied under Robert Cromeans (global artistic director of Paul Mitchell), D.J. Muldoon, Ira Pope Sage, Takashi Kitamura, Stephanie Kocielski and Vivienne Mackinder, before moving to Denver in 2011.
Mark pours introspection and perspective into every endeavor, and the class quickly became a forum, with everyone asking questions and dishing feedback. As he led us through a one-length bob with layers underneath to add movement, we talked about the ways hair can speak, strategies for creating better symmetry, our animal reactions to hair, and what keeps us motivated behind our chairs.

Mark's time with us was a great reminder of how fortunate we are to work in an industry where shared education benefits the entire community. Many thanks to Mark and our team for taking part. Check out more of Mark's work @markbunkall.
